The LX sandwich-style system, up to 6300 A, is used where large quantities of power need to be transported, uninfluenced by the mounting position of the system. Conductor configurations with the PE conductor insulated along its entire length, and a doublesize neutral can ensure the interference-free distribution of power in places such as radio stations, computer centres or at internet providers’. The system is protected to IP54 as standard, and tap-off units up to 1250 A are available as standard.
Overview
Siemens busbar system is a safe and reliable solution for power transmission and distribution: from transformers through main distribution cabinets and branch distribution cabinets to each electrical load. Siemens busbar system outperforms electric cable system in many aspects such as cost savings and installation time, providing power points at any location on the power line, reducing installation space, etc ...
Components
Benefits
The complexity of today‘s buildings makes power distribution with a high level of transparency and flexibility an indispensable requirement. The uninterrupted provision of power is also absolutely essential for production plants with multiple shifts. Busbar trunking systems meet these demands for an economical power distribution system with simple design, fast installation, optimum flexibility and safety by offering:
- Straightforward network structures
- Minimum space requirements
- Easy retrofitting with sudden changes in location and consumer ratings
- High short-circuit rating and low fire load
The LX busbar trunking system is a type-tested low-voltage assembly (TTA) in accordance with IEC/EN 60439-1 and 2 in the form of an aluminium enclosed sandwich system. The LX sandwich system consists of busbars, insulation, the aluminium enclosure and the fastening and connection elements.
Application
Building applications
LXA/LXC and LDA/LDC systems are available for distributing large power requirements in buildings. For this type of application busbar trunking systems frequently have to meet the following requirements:
- Flexible power distribution in high-rise buildings
- Safe power supply for electronic consumers
To meet these requirements the LXA/LXC systems have very favourable features in terms of design, high load capacity of the neutral conductor as well as an additional isolated PE conductor.
Industrial applications
When used in industrial applications, busbar trunking systems have to meet a high level of requirements in terms of short-circuit ratings. In power supply systems for manufacturing plants with a high power requirement, such as with welding robots in welding lines, very high short-circuit currents can occur that require the use of very robust consumer tap-offs. The LDA/LDC systems are ideal busbar trunking systems for typical industrial applications. LXA/LXC systems may, however, also be useful in particular industrial applications such as in operating areas exposed to fire hazards. In this kind of application protection to IP5x is required, where there is a risk of fire due to inflammable dust.
